Stopping Drug Abuse by Building Better Steroids
April 3, 2009
Steroid use in athletic events has been a source of controversy ever since they were created, but that controversy may finally be reaching a head. Where athletes are currently trying to hide their use of performance enhancing drugs, it may be possible that competitors will soon be touting lines of brand name steroids for sale to the general public; the day that Barry Bonds Muscle Building Cream hits the market may not be that far off. With a little publicity, big league sports franchises could make more money by helping to develop and market safe steroid products that average consumers can discuss with their personal physicians.

While this may sound like a disaster waiting to happen, market research has shown that consumers will purchase a quality product that has been tested to be safe as long as it meets a perceived need. In fact, many consumers will buy a product that is unsafe if they feel their need warrants the risk. This has lead to a very dangerous situation where consumers buy steroids that are untested, unproven, or laced with other mind-altering drugs, and there is zero chance of regulating the market.
If a major corporation, or group of corporations, backs the research and pushes legislative changes, it could be possible to create a marketplace where a quality steroid product can be available that doesn’t include major side effects and chances of dependency. Without major funding, it’s taken approximately half a decade to reach the point where steroids, in the correct quantities, no longer cause liver damage, cancer, and other repercussions in every person who uses them.
The idea of a legal steroid is not as farfetched as it might seem since there are a number of websites where one can buy legal steroids online. The intention of a financially backed anabolic steroid is not to make it legal, but to expedite making it safe for people who wish to boost their current muscle growth and strength. This methodology still requires the staples of a healthy diet, proper workouts, and taking the necessary supplements to provide any results, and consulting a physician before starting on a plan is highly recommended.
There is a benefit to creating a better steroid as it will reduce the number of overdoses, reduce the complications with professional athletes, and increase the revenue potentials of sporting franchises. By regulating the market, laws can be placed that will assist in setting proper dosages and frequency of usage, and may even allow some steroid products to be sold over the counter. Keeping safe and applying steroids to a proper fitness routine requires guidance from a professional and proper handling from the user. Without this, dangerous side effects could occur and create new problems for an already grey market.
